Level 4 NVQ Diplomas in Construction Site Supervision
Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision
This is a qualification that confirms competency in site supervision in the construction industry and consists of 14 units of study. Within the qualification you will look at the following topic areas:
- Introduction to health and safety
- Leadership and Management
- Communication and customer care
- Planning, programming and logistics
- Resource management (cost, cash and risk)
All of the units within the qualification relate to the skills and knowledge required to become a site supervisor in the construction industry, and there are 6 pathways that you can choose from in order to achieve the qualification: Building and Civil Engineering, Highways and maintenance repair, Residential development, Conservation, Demolition and Tunneling.
You will take this Level 4 NVQ qualification if you are currently employed or have previously been employed in the construction industry and are required to supervise the work of others and running of a construction site. Achieving this qualification allows you to demonstrate your ability to work safely and competently to a recognised national standard.
NVQ Diplomas such as this teach you advanced skills and help you progress in your current job to a supervisory role. Many large construction sites require the NVQ to demonstrate you are able to work safely and competently on-site in a supervisory capacity.
What could the qualification lead to?
This qualification prepares you for work at a supervisory level in the construction industry, with a specific focus on site supervision. Upon completion you can apply to CSCS, or other industry card schemes, to gain a recognized gold supervisory skills card. Once achieved you can then progress onto the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management.
Duration of the course
This course will last for 9 months and will be delivered via monthly workshops where you will gain additional knowledge to underpin the qualification and also portfolio building sessions. All evidence will be stored on an electronic portfolio, this is a great tool as you will be able to quickly identify evidence whilst working on site and upload it straight to your portfolio via a app which can be placed on your smart phone or tablet, your assessor will then be able to check your evidence remotely and provide feedback to you as you progress. Full support and guidance will be provided on the use of the e-portfolio system and technical support will be available during normal office hours.
You should already be working as a site supervisor or assistant site manager within construction. You need to be over the age of 18 due to the health and safety and supervision responsibilities required to take this qualification. It is also advisable that you already hold a level 3 qualification in construction but this can be from a variety of trade backgrounds.
Cost of the course
The total cost of this course is £2160.00 inc VAT and registration costs of £96.00
If you are a CITB levy payer you will also be able to obtain CITB grants to assist with the qualification cost.
