This course will teach you the knowledge and practical skills to become a qualified Bricklayer.  A bricklayer is a crafts-person who provides skills on site.  You will be building brickwork and block-work to help construct buildings and other structures. The Brickwork apprenticeship will give you a combination of qualifications and the skills and knowledge you’ll need to work as a bricklayer within the construction industry.

When undertaking an Apprenticeship, you will study a mixture of both work-based learning and training at Train4All.  You will work with an employer and earn a wage whilst learning a City & Guilds accredited trade, you will also have to pass an Independent End Point Assessment at the end of your skills training.

The apprenticeship standard you will follow is made up of:

  • Working with an employer – putting what you have learnt into practice and gaining valuable work skills
  • Functional skills in Maths and English (if required) –  improving  Maths and English skills relevant to your trade
  • Passing an Independent End Point Assessment

Within this apprenticeship you will learn some of the following trade skills:

  • Safe working practices in construction
  • Construction methods and technology
  • Interpret drawings
  • Set out thin masonry structures
  • Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
  • Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • Build cavity walling
  • Information, Quantities and Communication
  • Building Methods and Construction Technology
  • Structural and Decorative Brickwork
  • Repair and Maintain Masonry Structures
  • Erect Complex Masonry Structures

Once you have completed your apprenticeship you could then choose to progress your career further as a supervisor.
