Emma Bundy - Alphington Partnership Plus Skills Academy
Emma started her Vistry Journey by enrolling onto the Alphington PPSA in March 2021. She had a background in construction, however, she was unfortunately made redundant in January 2021 by a local plastering company she was working for. As a result of her redundancy, Emma signed up to the academy after seeing it advertised as she wanted to keep herself busy as well as enhance her own skill set.
Emma thrived within the skills academy setting, not only showing a good work ethic and a real desire to progress within the construction industry itself. After meeting members of the Vistry team, Emma was offered a position of Apprentice Trainee Site Manager at a Development closer to her home, an opportunity she was ecstatic to receive.
Tony Norman - North Prospect Partnership Plus Skills Academy
Tony enrolled onto the Routeway 2 Construction course at the North Prospect Skills Academy in early September 2021. Having worked in construction before, his main motivation was to not only regain his CSCS card, so he could progress within the industry. After passing his CSCS test, Tony carried out work experience on site with the groundworks team, an opportunity he thoroughly enjoyed. Talking about the aspect of work experience he found the most interesting, Tony had this to say, ” I have been reminded of being back in work and I enjoy that feeling. It has been great to work on a site again and to see the work others are doing”.
Having completed and graduated from the Routeway 2 Construction course, Tony has now gone onto secure work as a labourer back on the North Prospect site, an opportunity providing the perfect platform to progress within his career and explore other trades.
Sam Warren - Alphington Partnership Plus Skills Academy
In November 2021, Sam enrolled onto the Alphington PPSA with the goal of gaining some qualifications relevant to the construction industry. Sam recognised how important gaining qualifications are to progress within the industry and saw the PPSA as the perfect environment to do so. Describing himself as a ” very much outside kind of guy” Sam was determined to gain some relevant experience on the Alphington site itself. So, after his passing his CSCS test, that’s exactly what he did, working with one of the main contractors on the site, CJL.
Sam thoroughly enjoyed his experience during his time on the course, and when asked what he gained from the experience Sam said ” I have gained a lot of knowledge, not just around construction, however also first aid, health and safety etc. It has all been really beneficial to me”. After graduating from the course at the end of 2021, Sam has successfully secured an apprenticeship with the same contractor he did work experience with, CJL.
