Train4All Construction Academy offer fully funded apprenticeships for 16-21 year olds and partially funded apprenticeships for those who are over the age of 22. Apprenticeships are available in Plate Welding, Metal Fabricator and Engineering Fitter.
What is an apprenticeship?
As an apprentice you will build knowledge and gain practical skills in order to gain qualifications, all whilst working for an employer and earning money. You will have a contract of employment and be entitled to holidays and other terms of employment just like the rest of the workforce. We have a dedicated team that can assist you in finding the right employer if you have not already secured a placement.
What will I do?
You will work 4 days per week and attend a day release programme for between 12 months and 4 years. Train4All ensure that you receive quality training both in the workplace and at the academy where practical and theoretical training will be delivered in the trade specific workshops. You will work towards gaining your qualification and vocational maths and English skills.
How do I achieve?
Throughout your training you will be assessed against national criteria through questioning, observation and practical assessment. Once you have reached the end of your training, you will then have an End Point Assessment (EPA) which is observed by an external body, this assessment is for you to prove the skills and knowledge you have gained during your apprenticeship. Once you have passed this independent end point assessment your trainers and employer will provide advice and guidance on how you can then progress your career further to move up the construction ladder.
You may also be required to complete Functional Skills in English and maths if you have not attained a Grade 4 at GCSE. This is a vocational way of applying the subjects and many apprentices find this way of learning much less daunting that GCSEs. If you are over 19, your employer may not require you to do the functional skills, but just gain valuable English and maths skills as part of your apprenticeship without sitting the formal qualifications.
