Metal Inert Gas (MIG) is an arc welding process that joins two metals. This is done by heating the metals with the help of an arc and is formed between the surface to be welled and a continuously fed filler electrode. This type of welding uses a shielding gas to protect the molten pool of weld metal from reacting with elements present in the atmosphere.
The 1-day course introduces welding machine familiarisation in MIG and maintenance procedures.

- Work safely with the process they have chosen
- Identify and assemble the equipment necessary to work with their chosen process
- Learn fillet joints
- Identify process technique deficiencies
- Identify welding defects

This 1 day course is for those that are looking to gain skills in MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding which is the most common practice.
Assessment Method
This is an in-house certificate and you will be assessed against pre-set practical criteria.
Progression
There is opportunity to progress to a more advanced level or commence an apprenticeship with an employer.
Course Requirements*
Learners need to provide flameproof overalls and wear safety boots in the workshop.
