It's been a busy week at Train4All HQ! We have welcomed learners from local schools for taster sessions where great fun was had in the engineering and construction workshops. We have also met with new employers looking to take on their next apprentice.
It was really exciting to launch the search for 6 new Property Maintenance apprentices to work at the Red Brick Building in Glastonbury, providing a real opportunity for local people to be part of the Glastonbury Town Deal project to rejuvenate Building C. We look forward to meeting prospective candidates on Valentines Day at the Red Brick Building between 12 noon and 3pm, and encourage people to come along to hear about this amazing project.
Never has there been a better time for people to engage with learning whilst earning. The current climate will see a growing need for more people to gain trade specific skills to assist with the growth plans across the South West. This National Apprenticeship Week has seen applications coming in for people to start training from July this year, so don't wait until June or July to think about your next steps after leaving school or college.

We are looking for a number of dynamic skilled trade NVQ Assessors to join our associate team to work across the Southwest.
NVQ assessors support and assess learners that are working towards their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) on site. As key members of Train4All, our assessors effectively manage a cohort of trade candidates and support them to achieve their chosen qualification in the following areas:
Suitable candidates will require a high level of practical skill and knowledge and be able to assess the competence of individuals on site with a focus on upholding quality.
Assessor training can be provided for the right trade qualified candidates.

On Tuesday 17th January, we welcomed Matt Hartigan and Alan Clarke from Higos Insurance for our Somerset Business Awards Judges visit. It was fantastic to showcase our Construction and Engineering provision in Somerton and for the judges to meet some of the teaching team and learners. We also demonstrated our new Virtual Reality Welding equipment with the judges experiencing for themselves what it is like to weld, albeit virtually. Scoring wasn't competitive at all! We now look forward to hearing whether we have been shortlisted to the final 3!

We are delighted to have successfully made it through to the next round of the Somerset Business Awards in the category of Medium Business of the Year. This is such fantastic news to receive just before we break for the year and we are excited to see whether we make the finals!
We are now eagerly awaiting for our judge to come and visit between now and February 2023, it will provide us the opportunity to really showcase the academy and allow our judge to meet the team, our learners and get that warm fuzzy feeling everyone gets when they come to Train4All and see the amazing work that we do with local schools, learners and our local and national employers.
For now we will celebrate getting through to the next stage of the awards and keep our fingers crossed for next year.
The Somerset Business Connection Event is being held at the Edgar Hall in Somerton on 14th December from 13:30 - 16:30. The event will bring people together to share their expertise, to network and make connections and to learn from others. There will be a selection of businesses showcasing their products and services, which will makes it easier for businesses to find and do business with each other. We are looking forward to supporting the event, so please do come along and say hi.

We are delighted to announce that Train4All has been awarded the ERS Gold Covenant Award. We’ve worked our way from Bronze to Silver and are now extremely proud to have been awarded the Gold recognition at a sparkling ceremony at Dartmouth Royal Naval College on 24th November.
The ERS was born out of the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a voluntary pledge that organisations can commit to in order to publicly demonstrate their support to the Armed Forces Community.
It was established in 2014 in order to recognise and reward UK employers for their support and commitment towards Defence. The scheme has three tiers of award - Gold, Silver and Bronze with a business progressing by firstly pledging support, then demonstrating their support, before finally advocating support to the Armed Forces Community in alignment with the Armed Forces Covenant.
As a provider of Armed Forces Resettlement Training and with former members of the Armed Forces employed at Train4All, we really wanted to demonstrate our commitment to supporting those serving, veterans and their families in any way we could. Train4All has offered training and employment opportunities for over 10 years, and now we are delighted to be working alongside local cadets in Somerset to support their journey.
As a business that employs both Armed Forces Reserves and veterans, we have witnessed first-hand the impact our training has had on those leaving the Armed Forces. New careers have taken shape both with us and our network of employers, and personnel have been able to gain an enormous number of skills as well as confidence before leaving the comfort of the military.
As we further develop our alliance with British Forces Resettlement Service (BFRS) we hope that our Gold Award will create even more opportunities for reservists and service leavers to progress their construction careers.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Wessex RFCA for their continued support of Train4All and all that we do. Firstly, it was lovely to see so many schools attending the first face-to-face Somerset Careers Fair last week at Westlands. The learners enjoyed trying our brand-new state of the art Virtual Reality Welding machine and some of the skills demonstrated were incredible, so much so that one employer offered a learner work experience following an observation of their virtual skills!
With National Apprenticeship week starting on 6th February 2023, we are delighted to announce the return of our popular Taster Sessions which will take place on 8th and 9th February 2023. It will certainly be lovely to welcome young learners back to the academy again to give them a flavour of construction or engineering which is delivered in a smaller, slightly less daunting setting than a larger FE college. Sessions will run in the morning and afternoon and will include a brief talk on all options available as well as a practical taster in either construction or engineering.
To book onto a session, learners need to speak to their Careers Advisors in school so that they can advise us how many will be attending. We will also be holding an Open Evening on Wednesday 8th from 3.30 - 6.30 pm for learners, parents and employers to visit the Academy in Somerton, meet the team and view the facilities. We were delighted to be awarded a Business Growth Support grant in June by Somerset County Council to provide support for us to access specialist and expert business support service providers to meet specific needs and have a transformative impact on our business. The grant helped us to redesign our broken website and increase our social media presence in order to further support learners, employers and communities in accessing the many training opportunities we have.
We were delighted that Train4All were one of a few companies chosen to access this grant and would like to thank the Economy and Planning Commissioning Team for their guidance and support over the past few months. Thanks must also go to Introtweet an DP Solutions for their invaluable help, we are delighted to continue working with you and to progress with further projects.
Somerset Careers Faris are back! We will be attending 2 events this month, so pop along and meet the team to discover the range of training and employment opportunities we have available. Also, we will be launching our virtual welding experience, so come along and have a go to see if welding could be your thing!
These events are extremely important for young people, giving them the opportunity to speak to the experts, discover opportunities they may not have thought of and think about alternative routes for their chosen career.

We are delighted to be attending the next Hinkley Point Recruitment event on Thursday 17th November from 17.30-20.30 at the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre in Bridgwater where we will be recruiting for the FREE 2-week EDF Hinkley Support Operative (Bronze) course that starts on 5th December.
Upon successful achievement of the course, learners will be interviewed by the MEH Alliance for a position as a General labourer. There is a specific requirement for operatives to support the coatings team and as such we would welcome applications from painters and decorators looking to explore opportunities on site.
