Combined Electrical Awareness and 18th Edition

This is a classroom based course delivered over 5 days to provide in-depth training, the course also includes a summative 2 hour examination on the full content of the Regulations.

Course Content

Days 1 and 2 - Electrical Awareness: 

  • Dangers of Electricity
  • Effects of an electric current on the human body
  • Methods of protection from an electric shock
  • Awareness of the Electricity at Work Regulations
  • Electrical Safety
  • Use of Electrical Equipment in the work place
  • User checks on Electrical Equipment

Days 3 to 5 - 18th Edition:

The IET Wiring Regulations is a British standard for the installation of electrical wiring and is considered to be one of the most important documents for electricians in the UK. The regulations apply to the design, erection and verification of electrical installations, plus additions and alterations to existing installations.  The Wiring Regulations is an essential publication for all professionals working in the electrotechnical engineering services industry and if you work on electrical installations in the UK then you need to know about the BS 7671 as this applies to the wiring installation you will be working on.

Who is this qualification for?

This course is for those that are looking to gain knowledge of the electrical industry and achieve the required 18th Edition.

Assessment Method

The course is assessed by a 2-hour examination

Progression

Learners could expand their knowledge and progress onto the Domestic Green Energy programme which includes the practical applications of Electric Vehicle Charging and Solar Panels.
