Working in Low Risk Confined Space

This 1-day course is designed to ensure that operatives have an awareness of working in a confined space. At the end of the course learners will be able to understand the requirements of working in a confined space and identify and assess associated risks.

Course Content

  • An awareness of the legislation applying to Confined Spaces working
  • Principles of Confined Space Awareness for those that might work near confined spaces, or might be associated with confined space operations but are not required to enter a confined space.
  • Principles of Confined Space Risks/Hazards
  • Principles of Confined Space Identification and Classification

This course can be used as a proprietary step to confined space entry training if required.

Please Note – This course is aimed at anyone working in a low risk environment and includes preparing to work safely, entering and exiting low risk confined spaces safely, safe use of equipment and tools, following procedures and dealing with emergencies. This qualification allows you to work inside a low risk confined space, however it does not qualify you to be an Entry Controller for low risk work.

Who is this course for?

All personnel who work near a Confined Space or might be associated with Confined Space Operations. This course is not for those working in a Medium Risk Confined Space where the use of a hoist is required along with breathing apparatus.

Assessment Method

This is an ECITB accredited course.

Progression

Learners can progress to achieve a recognised certificate in Medium Risk Confined Space or study other short skills courses.

Course Requirements*

Learners must provide their own safety footwear to wear within the workshop.
